Main Entry: he·ro
Pronunciation: 'hir-(")O
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural heroes
Etymology: Latin heros, from Greek hErOs
1 a : a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability b : an illustrious warrior c : a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities d : one that shows great courage
2 a : the principal male character in a literary or dramatic work b : the central figure in an event, period, or movement
3 plural usually heros : SUBMARINE 2
4 : an object of extreme admiration and devotion : IDOL

That was the definition in dictionary-speak (Websters). Well, a hero to me is someone that carries good qualities (reponsibility, respectful, etc.) and really cares about helping those in need than themselves. Other things are people you look up to, are brave and courageous (I didn't spell that right, did I?), and arn't afraid to do the right thing, even if they are the only one standing up. Some heroes to me are the teachers who inspire and motivate learning, those who go out of there way to save lives: police men, fire fighters, even strangers! Authors and poets who give you more insight in your lives and words that inspire you, environment activists that devote themselves to taking care of our earth, scientists that strive to discover, peace makers that lead us to non-violent choices and ideas, strangers that give out a helping hand to those in need, my family that has given me so much when I have near to nothing in return, those who teach us religion (every religion's goal is the well being of us and making us better people), and this list can go on and on never ending so I'll stop here.

Hero is a state of mind. Someone to look up to. One that stands up for what he believes is right, wether it is right or not.

to me there is only one definition for hero, whether it is in literature or film or reality i think a hero is somebody who is able to put others' needs above theirs. so i think in everyday life there is a chance every minute to be a hero, for example today my dad is a hero to me because he cooked for me before cooking for himself without me asking for food even though he was tired and sweaty from working outside.

I think that hero should be brace. And also they have to be wise to get good decision. Like superman… he always gets great decision I think. (I know Superman is like kind of fiction but its still hero’s journey.) And the hero should be dependable and trustworthy. And I think many of them have good looking I mean…like... if that hero looks like a monster. That people who saved by the hero will scared of him. Maybe it is some kind of perceptions.
