Grade 8 Journey to Lan Na!

(Now that we are back from our journey to Chiang Mai, record your comments on the experience you had. What images and memories do you have that stand out strongest? What did you learn most from the trip?)
On Monday, Feb. 11, we're off to 'A Million Rice Fields' - as the Chiang Mai kingdom was called 500 years ago! Submit your comments here to share questions, expectations and experiences that relate to our class trip. We'll have a class trip meeting on Tues., Feb. 5, but what questions would you like answered? What expectations do you have for the trip and the activities you've chosen? After we return from Chiang Mai, be ready to share your experiences and reflections - a photo gallery will be included!

Below are some related videos from YouTube. Hit play, let the videos buffer through, and then they run smoothly.

If you signed up for rock climbing, you might like to check out this video clip of Chris Sharma rock climbing at the age of 15. He first started climbing when he was 12 years old, and now at the age of 26, he is considered the best in the world!

For those of you going to Khun Lek's Elephant Nature Park, here's a YouTube video that shows some of the 'hands on' action that you will have.

I have heard a lot from friends that I have who are in high school and they say it’s really fun. I have already been to Chang Mai and done various things such as elephant riding. I hope that this is a great trip!

I am not excited to go to Chaing Mai beacause i have been there a lot of times but just forget the places in Chaing Mai that i have visited. Well i signed up activities with my friends ,Malik Davis and the activity sheet just splits us apart. I got the same activity but on diferent days. I wanted this problem to be solved.

I think it would be great if I the chance to share my experiences and my reflection with other people after I came back from the Chiang-Mai trip because I’m sure that I would have lots of interesting and exciting experience during Chiang-Mai trip. I’ve been to Chiang-Mai before and I admit that it is one my favorite places in Thailand because it has very beautiful nature and also lots of tourist attractions such as old temples that have long history. Some of the places that I selected for this trip, I never been there before such as the houseboat and white waterfalls and I feel so excited about it. I went to Chiang-Mai with my family before and we had lots of good memories there but I believe that if I go with my friend I will have lots of incredible adventure and joyful memories. I believe that it will be very enjoying going to Chiang-Mai trip and after we came back I would be appreciate to share my wonderful experiences to other people.

I got Thai cooking for one activity. well, i really don't cook in house and don't like to do. So i was upset that i got Thai cooking. But i will and always try to change my mind to positively. and i think that some people wanted to do Thai cooking. so in this activity, i hope and will try to do as i can.

I am excited about going to Chiang Mai, but I have a few questions. What is the weather like? Can we bring games (i.e. playing cards), music players, etc. on the train ride? What are the trains and rooms like? I know that some of these are broad, but if they could be answered in the meeting on February 5th, then that would be great.

Anonymous said...

To be frank, there are certain activities that do not sound as interesting as others. Evidently, people had to send their preferences before others to get first priority. Personally, I do not think that people should be worried because the arrangements are probably such that the activities are equally interesting. I think that it would be nice if we could get a more detailed description or example of the activities (if the activities were not chosen by that person then they may not know what it includes).

I am really excited to go to Chiang Mai on the 11th of Febuary. Last year's eighth graders told me that Chiang Mai was the best trip out of all the ones that we go on in the whole Middle School! I would like to know more about the culture of the people in Chiang Mai. I signed up for cooking which should be interesting because I like to cook (even though I am not so good at it!) and I would like to learn more about the food they eat up North. I will be looking forward white water rafting too. Last year I went on a day trip to Chiang Mai with my family. We took a train there and back and I must say that although public trains aren't really first class transportation, it was a wonderful experience and I had a great time. I am sure that we will learn a lot of new things and have a lot of fun in Chiang Mai!

To experience the different cultures and learn the different characteristics from people, it will be a great experience especially to students.

This seems like visiting an another part of Thai land. Most place that I visited are familiar with temple and elephant. In Cambodia, there are also many temples for tourists. Relate these facts to a cultural effect, which most Southeast Asian's cutures are built by a Buddhism. Therefore, I expect to see the temples in Chiang mai.

Are there any great or famous temples to see? I don't think our schedule is not made to only rock climing and elephant riding. There may great moral of cultures which will teach us about the history from the past.

I just have some questions. What will the weather be like there? Will it be cold or hot? I ask this so that I know what to pack for the trip. I'm very exited for the trip to Chang Mai, and I think it wil be fun and educational, all in one experience.

I am going to do the rock climbing so I watched the video clip of the Chris Sharma who climbed the mountain from 12 years old. When I saw he was climbing the precipitous rock I was really surprised. I wondered that if I try to climb the rock that is almost parallel to the surface I’ll dive into the ocean or to the surface and have a big injury. But I am interested in rock climbing so I am very exciting now. I hope our trip will be a magnificent or superb trip!!

Chiang Mai, hmmm, well when people speak of Chiang Mai, I particularly think of mountains and the cold weather up in the north. I’ve been to Chiang Mai lots of times but usually I would just go there to eat but I won’t be traveling around much. This is because my grandmother’s house in Lampang, a neighboring city. When ever I visit my grandmother she always takes me to Chiang Mai sometimes to look at elephants but sometimes just to go eat. One question that I want answered is that can we stay up in our rooms after curfew? Maybe if we don’t make any noise will that be ok?

Hi I found this site on google
and I went to chiang mai before, and it was very great!

I have never been to Chang Mai and I've wanted to go there for a long time. So when I heard the class trip is to visit Chang Mai, I got exited and decided to make a great journey.

I'm really excited to go Chiang Mai, because it will be nice to look other place in Thailand. I'm doing Thai cooking in Chiang Mai, and I feel kind of weired and exited, because I don't even know how to cook Korean food. I want to know that when we ride bus or the train, can we seat where ever we want with our friends?

I am excited to go to Chiang Mai because I had never been there and we have a lot of activities, also we can go with our friends. I am going to do the rock climbing, Norhern Thai cooking, and biking, I am excited to all but especially I want to do rock climbing. Because I did like this in P.E. but it was not real rock, however in Chiang Mai, the rock is real so I really excited for this. Someone said Chiang Mai is so cold in the morning, is it true?

I think that Chiang Mai will be a great experience! I hypothesize that this stimulating trip is that it would be the best memory of eighth grade because of all the experiences I would get to try out and all the friends I’ll make. After this trip, I think I’ll make a lot of new friends and will be closer to people I already know. I also think that my bond with my friends will grow stronger because we will be spending a week together, where we could get to know more of each other everyday. I’m going to the Elephant Nature Park, so after watching the video, I expect that this will be the most memorable experience of Chiang Mai. I think that it will be really interesting helping the elephants out and doing activities with them. From this trip, I also expect that I’ll learn a lot of new things such as the elephants and the lives of people in Chiang Mai.

I have heard from alot of my friends in 9th and 10th grade say that Chiang Mai is the best field trip in middle school. I am very excited to go and am looking forward to the house boat because I have alot of my friends going there too.
However after seeing the rock climbing video, I saw how intense it is to rock climb and now I regret not choosing rock climbing alittle bit.

Anonymous said...

I'm looking forward to going to Change Mai, but I want to know whether it's more of an educational trip or do other things than school trip. Being the activities don't sound like boring school academic activities. I'm going to sleep over night at the house boat and was wondering if we could swim in the water. I've been the Chang Mai and it gets pretty cold at night so bring a sweater.

I have not been to Chiang-Mai. And I want to know more history of Chiang-Mai because they have many important things so I think Chiang-Mai is very awesome. And I took Thai cooking one day.
And I want to go to elephant's hospital because many sick elephant go to that hospital and sometimes it on the TV. So it is famous so I want to go but, we don't go to that hospital. It is very shame. I am looking forward to go to the Chiang-Mai.

Anonymous said...

I think the trip to Chiang-Mai would be interesting because it is a really good place to learn about the cultures of Northern Thailand. I have been to Chiang-Mai before and riding elephants was an experience that I could never forget. I hope all the students would enjoy this trip.
Questions: Are we allowed to go to other people's room on the train?

I love the Dois (Mountains in Chiang Mai) they are very cold and a great place for hikers to visit. It is very cold in Winter and they say if you go up to the peak, you can see a really beautiful sunset there.

Anonymous said...

I went to Chiang Mai it is ok. When I think about it I always think about mountains which they call it "doi", I always think about the past doing sonkran there because it is very fun lots of people. i am looking forward to go to Chiang Mai I went there thousands of time but one more time doesn't matter

I haven't gone there before, so I am really excited to go there.I heard that chang mai is really interesting and it is a little bit colder than Bangkok. I want to know the diffrence between Bangkok and Chang Mai.

There are some questions I have towards the chiang mai trip. Frankly, I didn't get much informations about how the trip will be, such as what things we are supposed to bring, what things we are not supposed to bring, where we sleep each day and other more. This is my first time visiting the northern area of Thailand, Chiangmai and I am quite interested about how the region will be like. Will the climate be much cooler than Bangkok? Will Chiangmai have more fresh air? I am very happy about what activities I will participate and very excited about going to the first field trip in the 8th grade. I hope i will have a great time and enjoy the moments in Chiangmai clearly.

I've been hearing about trip to Chiang-Mai trip from upper class people. They say it's the best trip in the Middle School. I think this trip is going to be exciting. You get to ride a train about half a day and get to see some landmarks in Chiang-Mai. I chose biking and hill tribe activity. I think that hill tribe would be really cool because it's an activity that stays overnight. I have some question about the hill tribe activity. Since it's an overnight activity, will there be alot of mosquito or any other bugs? I wish that this trip would be great hopefully.

"Chiang Mai" is known as a famous province. Many tourists that have visited Thailand will most likely visit Chiang Mai. I have visited Chiang Mai once, and I think it is a very pretty place. The nature inspires me because in Bangkok is just buildings and factories. I was able to breathe the fresh air and it is just very peaceful.

I am very excited to go to the "Hill tribe" because many of my friends will be there and many of the people I don't know are going too. This gives me an opportunity to make new friends. I am also excited to go to the hill tribe because "White Water Rafting" sounds very fun to me.

The questions I have for this trip is that "Is the Bathroom in the Train dirty?"

I am looking forward to going to this trip a lot because I will have a chance to share my good memories with "my heroes" and I believe that this memory will be different than all my other fieldtrips.

I’m so excited about going to Chiang-Mai trip, because this is my first time to going there. I’ve heard about Chiang-Mai from high school students, they said that they had fun time in Chiang-Mai trip and especially they liked while they were taking the train. I’m still wondering how long it takes to get there. Some of my friend said it takes more than 12 hours but some are said it takes less than 10hours. And I want to know about can we seat with our friend if we are taking same bus?

All of my friends in highschool have said that Chiang Mai is the best middle school trip. They all had so much fun. I am really looking forward to this trip because it will be a new experience for me. Ive never been to Chiang Mai before, and I've never personally wanted to go there, but Im glad I have the oppurtunity to go there now. I'm really looking forward to the Elephant Nature Park. I was part of the synergy group which helped raise money for the elephants.

"It's the best field trip in middle school"--I'm coming to ISB at right timing!I think it will be a good experience to going out with friends.I've been there before with my family. The Rose Garden impressed me a lot. It's the most beautiful garden I've ever seen.I saw the video clip about rock climbing because I'm in this event, too.I don't think we need to climb such dangerous rock but it may also challenging and exciting. And also,I'd like to get more details about this trip.

I went to Chiang Mai 3 years ago. But I almost had no fun there. However this time, the activities sounds really fun and 8th grader from last year said Chiang Mai was awesome. So I'm looking forward to go to Chiang Mai and my expectation is to have great time.

i hope it will be a wonderful joyeous experince for everyone!
I know it is! or at least i hope so! XD

the past 8 graders said chiang mai was amaszing, so i guess it IS amazing. :D:D:D:D

I HAVE NO QUESTIONS. I have got the packing list from the ISB website. I wouldn’t mind if it would be raining or its hot or too cold. And where the food is concerned I have no problems as long as it is not too spicy. .

I have been to Chiang Mai before, but I have never gone there on a train.

From my sister's experience she said it was the best trip of middle school, compared to Kanchanaburi and Korat.

I hope that when we go there I won't have to do the same activities I've done there before. I also hope there aren't mosquitos because I personally HATE mosquitos.

This is about as much as I can say about Chiang Mai:
•Its in Northern Thailand
•Its called Chiang Mai

I suppose this is a hazard to know so little...
At the same time, though, it adds the spice of surprise to the trip!

I am loving to go to Chiang Mai. And also I am excited about the train part. I didn't get it what do we do on adventure hiking. I am waiting for 11 February 2008.

Change Mai was great, I had a wonderful experience. My activities were all like one big workout because they were tiring. I understand now what the trip was about, it wasn't to learn what we normally learn in school but to learn more about ourselves and friends. Fantastic trip!

Anonymous said...

Chiang Mai was wonderful with all the friends and the activities. my first activity was "The amazing hiking" it is fun talking with friends and walking the bad part was the army was practicing shooting and we went near the shooting range and it is dangerous because I don't want to get shot. My second activity was "artisan village" this activity is fun we go to random places and do things for example we painted a fan. Third activity was my best one "rock climbing" it is pretty challenging and we learned one word in Africa which the Zulu uses to make them feel confident about something. Anyways I want to thanks the teachers for organizing this trip, it is remarkable!

Anonymous said...

I think the best activity was Artisan village because I like to do art and also it was really fun! we went to mineral water park and put our feet into warm water(41 degrees). At that time, I was really tired but after went there, i felt better even i wanted to stay there. then worst thing was thai cooking... i mean it was fun to cook but the explanation was so boring. Why? i can understand if it was 1 hour. But it was not!! it was 3 hours ã… _ã… . and the fun one was night market. it was almost free! well, i want to go back and want to try the other activities and i want to keep touch with prem school!

Anonymous said...

Chiang mai trip was really fun to me. My most fun activity was the overnight hill tribe. We hiked 6 hours to get third village and everyone was really tired when they got third village, but they all proud of themselves that they completed the long hiking. On that day at night we had campfire and every different nationalities people has to sing a song in their languages in front of everyone. It was very fun. My bad experience in this activity was at night time when we were sleeping, two dogs were fighting outside so it was very noisy. Also the room was really cold that made people woke up often. The best part of this activity was the bamboo rafting. We actually controlled the rafting boat, and my friends and I had good teamwork so our boat moved easily.
From this activity I found specific things about my new friends and become friendlier. I think the trip was best trip I ever had.

Chiang Mai was my first trip that I’m going with ISB friends, and it helped to make our friendship stronger. It would be board if friends didn’t stay with me in the train, but it was very fun when we were playing with our friends. My first activity was Doi Suthep, it was temple that had about 309 steps to get there and it’s really tired. When I went there I liked the most about the view of Chiang Mai, because I could see almost whole Chiang Mai, it made me feel better because I liked high place where I can see everything especially the sea. My second activity was going Artisan village, we draw on fans and we also went to the factory where they make umbrellas. After we came back from Artisan village we went to night market, I think I enjoyed night market the most. It was really fun to shop with friends. On last day I went to Thai cooking, we cooked northern Thai food. It was very good, but it was making me tired because I had to stand all day and it was making me hot when we were next to fire. I really want to go Chiang Mai again, because it was really fun and made friendship stronger. Also it was interesting to do the experience other cultures not always Korean culture.

Anonymous said...

I've been to place such as Doi Suthep before, but I've never been curious enough to ask the people there about the history of the temple. I learned a few things on the trip, such as, the temple was named after a hermit and it was built by Kuena Vihara. I wonder if my parents know this. I'll ask them later.

During the Chiang Mai trip I spent a tremendous time with my friends doing wonderful activities. My favorite activity was the “Rock Climbing” and also I did caving and repelling. The reason why I liked was because these rock climbing or caving or repelling are less opportunity to do especially in Thailand. So, personally I thought this activity was the best. Another fun thing during this trip was to talk with my friends while we were boarding on the train. Inside of the train was very busy and lively that every person was talking to each friends. I think the things that we learned during this trip were different from each person but in our group of 8th grade I think we learned that how do we move as a one group. I learned we cannot accomplish a big hurdle without the benefit of other person. We can accomplish by helping each other and respect the suggestions of every person. The trip was the great opportunity to learn by touching and feeling instead of learning with our textbooks in classes. I really appreciate to the teacher who helped organizing the schedules and made our trip a wonderful journey. Thank you.

I think that this trip is so fun because we don't have to sit in the classroom for along time. I think i learn best by get up and doing things. This trip is fun because we got to do what we want and be with our friends.

FUN TRIP I WANT TO GO TO CHIANG MAI AGAIN

Anonymous said...

Chiang Mai was awesome. It was the greatest school trip I ever had. I noticed Chiang Mai was not polluted like Bangkok so the air was cool and flesh. During the trip, many of us acked naturally like at home so I could learn a lot of new things about my friends.

Anonymous said...

What I enjoyed the most in Chiang Mai is the rock climbing. I was nervous at first because I saw the wprd "death" on the instruction for the rock climbing. But I gor excited when I saw the rock and heared explanation from instructor on that day. When I actually tried, it was thrilling as the rock was rugged and high. And it was also fun because this experience was something that I can not do in my usual life. The other thing I enjoyed is to climb down into the cave from the ground above 60m with the rope. I was the first one to climb down so I was little bit proud. I was exhausted after this activity however, it became tremendous memory on this trip. I learned the friendship and cooporation are very important that we can not learn in school. Chiang Mai was very nice!

Anonymous said...

I thoroughly enjoyed going to Chiang Mai, as it was, by far, the most fun I've had the entire school year. I wasn't too confident about the conditions of the trip because I had no idea about the weather and cannot speak a word of Thai. But I can wholeheartedly say that I was amazed. My first activity was the "Gardens and Waterfall" trip, of which I remember staring at Venus Flytraps (squinting, actually) and wondering how they are so small. My other activity was the "Hilltribe Trek", which gave me a lot more memories. I won't forget the look in the children's eyes when they saw us and the presents we got for them. And, from the amazing Underwear Race to the teamwork involved in bamboo rafting through rapids, it was by far the best fun I've had in a long time.

[mr. kenney, this is the correct post]

Wow! I am so exhausted! Although the trip was tiring, I still thought it was too short!! I thought this field trip, Chiang Mai, was the best field trip in middle school and all the good memories that occurred on the trip will last in me forever. I think that this trip was amazingly worthwhile and would have more fun if this trip was a week and a half or two weeks. Well the train ride was a great experience for me because I’ve never been on the train before. (My mom prefers plane all times. I do too sometimes.) But it was fun and the train wasn’t awfully dirty. Just the bathroom was a bit disgusting. But as we reached to Prem Center, it was way better than I expected. It is pretty and the fresh air that I breathe in was so nice. I thought that Prem had an amazingly beautiful environment and I wished ISB could be as green as Prem. Hilltribe was AWESOME! The hike was tired but very challenging and fun. Although I slipped down the mountain and my foot hit a rock in the beginning and my left foot got a bit injured, I still think the hike was something new to me and very challenging. I think that if I didn’t have my friends then I would have given up on the way because my foot was dying of excruciating pain at many points. And the bamboo rafting was just wonderful. I think it taught me many things too. Because if my team didn’t work as a team, then the bamboo raft would have fell apart after the four hour raft because our team’s bamboo raft wasn’t so strong and some of the rapids were causing the bamboo even more loose and if we didn’t cooperate and go through the rushing currents of the rapids then we wouldn’t have made to the destination. And what Earth K. has mention, this is a very remarkable trip! THANK YOU TO ALL TEACHERS!

It's a very special feeling as I expected to go out with friends. I really appreciate this trip and the happy times I spent with my friends. I think I learned more things from this class trip because I had fun while I was learning and I enjoyed this process. I can feel strongly in these few days that teamwork is very important because you can never do everything only by yourself (e.g. the cooperative games we did in the Prem Centre). Almost everybody who has joined rock climbing said that it's the most impressive activity. I feel so, too. I like the introducers there because they always encouraged people positively to challenge themselves. Because of this, I pushed myself to try harder and really had great time there. So I want to thank again to them. At last, i wanna say that I think this trip will be my best memory in ISB.

The Chiang Mai Trip was really good! Biking was most impressed to me because it was interesting. At that time, we went to the buffalo camp by bike and I jumped to a buffalo!! It was scary but so fun. So I want biking again. In addition, the air was so fresh and clean that cannot be compared with the air of Bangkok. For these reasons, I want to go Chiang Mai, again!

I cant believe its over! The trip has gone by so fast, but yet when i think back to the monday we left it seems like forever ago. I thought that the trip to Lan Na was fun and very exiting. a chance to make new friends, and maybe get to know your friends even better. My favourite activity was probably the elaphant sanctuary. The thrill of being with so many elephants that are so beautiful was just amazing. I alos loved the mud fight we had while making mud bricks. Many people say we should have gotten an aeroplane to Chiang Mai but i think it would have ruined everything. It was fun being on a train with so many people at the same time. I think the Chiang Mai trip had great success, but should maybe last a little longer. It felt like we barely touched ground with Chiang Mai before we were off again; this time back to Bangkok.

Chiang Mai was an awesome trip! It was really fun and I learned so much from it. I also made new friends from this trip and got to know more about my old friends. I have so many memories from this trip that will stay with me forever. Some of them include the mud fight at the Elephant Sanctuary, bathing the elephants, feeding them, biking, going rafting, trekking and spending time with my friends. I thought that the rafting was the best activity because it was really fun racing with the other people and we got to work together as a team. One time, my team was stuck on a rock and we fell behind. We were the last team but we were all determined to become first, so we set our minds into it, and eventually accomplished our goals together. From the rafting, I learned that if I was determined, I could do anything. I also learned that we needed to work really well as a team and communicate with each other in order to go really fast or steer the raft. I also agree with Mint and Earth- Chiang Mai was a very remarkable trip! I got to experience a lot of new things while learning and having fun at the same time.

Chaing Mai was very interesting, so I really enjoyed this trip. My Wednesday activity was rock climbing and it was awsome. I haven't tried rock climbing before, so I was nervous. I learned that communication and trying are the most important things when I'm doing something with other people or you want to do something because without communication, nobody can knows what other people are doing and if you do not try, you can not make success.
This trip was very interesting and benefited for me, so I'll never forget that I went to Chaing Mai.

One word. AWESOME!

I loved Chiang Mai. I think that it was a wonderful experience and it was a great opportunity to try new things, make new friends, and just have fun. My activities were lanterns, Northern Thai cooking, and white water rafting. I especially enjoyed the white water rafting. It was a fun and light activity which included callused hands, a water fight, tackling, and a great time! From the water rafting I learned that you must work as a team to accomplish your goals. There was this time where our boat got stuck and my friend got squished between our raft and a rock, she pulled through with only a few cuts and scrapes and went on as if nothing happened. She didn't complain and she didn't whine and it made me realize that persistence is very important. It also taught me that if you believe, you can achieve.
Some highlights of Chiang Mai were the train rides, the Khan Toke dinner, the activities, and just the time to bond and socialize with your friends. Although some may think that they should take the plane instead of the train, I think that the train rides were the best part about going to Chiang Mai. Sleeping on a train was new to me, and even though there were cockroaches in my bunk, I had an fun experience.
Overall Chiang Mai was probably the best Middle School class trip ever! (Like Mint) THANK YOU TO ALL THE TEACHERS FOR THEIR TIME AND PATIENCE THAT WAS ESSENTIAL FOR MAKING THIS TRIP HAPPEN!

Chiang Mai was a great trip! I personally enjoyed it a lot and I think all of the other people did too. Images and memories that stood out the strongest to me was the 60 degree mountain hike, 10km kayak and a 20km bike ride. Doing those activities would sap energy from anyone no matter how fit they are. I could never forget how tiring and energy consuming that was, but overall the activities were fun and are imprinted deeply into my brain. I think we should thank the chaperons in advance that organized this trip and the chaperons that helped us at Chiang Mai. What I learned most was that being around with your friends was the whole purpose of this trip and also the culture/heart of Nothern Thailand, Chiang Mai.

i had a really great time in chiang mai. I think this is the best schooltrip so far! One week seems like so long but with chiang mai it seemed like a day! I wished it could have lasted a bit longer.. The PREM center was really nice, the rooms were good. I had so many wonderful memories from Chiang Mai that i can't really put them all in here. But all i know is if i had to do it again i would! Chiang Mai was really really fun, exciting, and i loved almost every bit of it :)

I thought that the trip would be awesome, but I didn't know that the trip was actually perfect for me to relax and play joyfully. I had so much memorable activities done and I thought that the Chiang Mai trip was the best of all the middle school trips. The most exciting event I did was the overnight activity- houseboat. I did kayak for 5 km to reach to the houseboat and it was a great experience. I enjoyed having fun time with friends and when we had to leave, I felt so miserable about the point that we had to leave. Overall, I loved the Chiang Mai trip.

I had very good time in Chiang Mai. For me, I think it's the best school trip ever. I also like the climate there because there are a lot of trees which makes the air cool. There are more pollution in bangkok than in Chiang mai. The prem center was really nice and big and I really like it. I liked the two staired bed at PREM but once my friend was climbing when I'm sleeping, he step on my legs and I didn't notice. It was so surprising. I also liked the Eco-village because I like their ideas of thinking. I also wanted to stay longer because I wanted to participate in the other activity.

Chiang Mai was amazing. I loved everything about it, the train, my roomates, my activities, the people with me in my activities, and the teacher I had most often around me when I was doing my activites. It was so fun and exciting, and tiring all in one, i wish it could have been longer! I especially liked the train rides, it was so much fun to make that trip with all your friends surrounding you. I think we should have 2 big field trips a year, to 2 different places, on to chiang mai, and one to the south (beach) or something. If the 8th grade trip was this fun, I think Week without Walls will be even better!

Chiang Mai was awesome!!! This trip has been the most memorable trip i have had yet. All my friends were there as well. i got to try out new and exciting activities such as rock climbing, which was challenging at first. But in the end I learned to conquer my fear of heights and enjoy the experience,I feel really proud of myself. Previous people that have went on this trip have said that it was fun as ell. After this trip, i knew they weren't fibbing! I would really like another school trip to chaing mai!

I've experineced myself of the real nature. Chiangmai is the place that I usually describe in poem. Especially, the singing from the bird seems like praise our pureness soul. Nothing is harmed or dirty by our hands. The one of the greatest experience that I ever had, is rock climbing. I drank the fresh air in the forest and the mountain.

I also learned about life in Thai land. Elephants are common animals that people usually describe as a holy animals. However, people used it as a tool for their business which caused elephant's population to descrease. We visited the Elephant Center which is for caring elephants and feed them. They showed a video clip about how serious the situation is that life of elephants are in danger. This one is one of the lesson that I learned from this trip.

When I do the rock climbing activity, I realized that climbing up to the goal is not easy. I have to use all my strength to reach to the target. Nothing will be easy in my life.

I was sick at the Monday and Tuesday so I could not do Tuesday's activity. Tuesday activity was Hiking. I really wanted to go hike. But I could not go so It was very regrettable for me. However, My sick was gone since Wednesday! Because I went to the hospital then doctor gave me some medicines therefore my sick was gone. Then Wednesday's activity was Northan Thai Cooking. I could not eat much but, it was so nice. Especially pork. Its taste was really good. I think it can't taste at the Bangkok. So I love that pork food. And Thursday activity was Artisan Village. It also wonderful. I made small fan and it could paint for it. My paint was really bad but, it also made me a good memor of the Chaing Mai.
Train was so loud! Everyone moving around and talk each other. And someone saw the GHOST! However I don't believe it. I think someone lied. And I did play with tramp card with my friend. But I always lose it! Anyway it was fun all the time at the Chiang Mai or in the train! It was great trip. I miss Chiang Mai! I want to go to Chiang Mai again!!

I was right! I was really excited to go to Chiang Mai and I really hoped it would be fun and it really was alot of fun! Now I know why all of my older high school friends thought it was the best trip in Middle School.
It was so much fun to just be with all your friends doing something new, rather than just sitting in a classroom. I really enjoyed the elephant sanctuary because it was something I probably wouldnt have done if I never got this Chiang Mai experience. I also felt like I did soemthign good for someone other than myself by helping the elephants and learning how Khun Lek has kindly devoted her life to these elephants.

The Chiang Mai trip was amazing. I first thought that the train would take forever. We had to sleep in the train to get to Chiang Mai! However, I was wrong. It seemed like it took about 3~4 hours because I was enjoying playing with my friends.
When I arrived to Prem, the school was so big! I was satisfied with the rooms. Then finally I went to do my Tuesday afternoon activity. I did biking with Mr.Kenney and Ms.Nuckols. We got to see 3 types of buffalo and see rice farming again. (7th grade trip is about rice field if you know.) Then we got lost on the way back to Prem! The leader group (Fast riders) was going so fast that the middle group lost the trail of the leader group. Even Mr.Kenney got lost with the middle group. Then finally the groups were seperated because there was a short cut to Prem and we could go straight but we weren't sure. Mr. Kenney took the group straight and I took the short cut to Prem. Anyway, we arrived faster than other riders.
I think if I explained the whole trip it would be long as an essay, so I would end it here.
Anyway, the trip was fun!

It sounds more of an adventure when Jin Woo says that we 'got lost' on the ride back during the Tuesday bike trip. But right where we pulled over, there was a sign pointing toward the direction of the Prem, only 2.2 kms. away. Rather than having so many bikes waiting on the side of the road for the guides to rejoin us, I gave Jin Woo and some of the students the ok to take the direct route back to the Prem. However, contrary to a line in TLP, going straight ahead did take the rest of us 'far', in that we were able to ride on unpaved, traffic-free roads through the countryside while hearing the sound of dry leaves under our tires. So, I'm glad Jin Woo had fun on the trip, but sorry it didn't work out for him and a few other students to get the fuller flavor of the bike ride.

The trip to Chiang Mai was fabulous. I had a great time with friends and I enjoyed activities very much. My favorite activity was the Rock Climbing, it seems very difficult and challenge when I first see the tremendous rock mountain, but it was actually fun after I took out my courage and try it, it wasn’t as hard as what I thought. The view was exceedingly beautiful when I reach the top of the rock; in the vastness of the forest, I could see Chiang Mai Mountains fill up with the veil of spring, which was really colorful. The beautiful view and soaring birds had decreased my fear of high, so it wasn’t too scary. After the rock climbing we also did the repelling and cave exploring. First we repelled down into the extremely deep cave. It was really scary when we are repelling down but the limestone in the cave was graceful. As we reach the bottom we started to explore the cave.
I’ve learn that collaboration and group work is really important during the trip; because no one can done perfect jobs without others help or hints. So we can’t be individual when we go out as a group, we should listen to other’s suggestion moreover to help them when necessary.
I appreciated the trip, and I would like to say thanks to all teachers that organized the trip for us, it was excellent and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.
